*****

-CLIP: Nikita Koloff attacks Lex Luger (WrestleWar ’91 – 2.24.91)

-Schiavone and Zbyszko welcome the home audience, the latter decked out in Cubs gear, only to heel out on Chicago seconds later. I’m sure the crowd that’s green screened behind them were VERY UPSET. Zbyszko is going to interview Sid Vicious on Larry Z’s Legends.

The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael “P.S.” Hayes & Jimmy “Jam” Garvin) [w/ Big Daddy Dink] defeated Reno Riggins & “Powerhouse” Tim Parker when Hayes pinned Parker with the DDT (3:22)

  • Diamond Dallas Page enters with The Freebirds to introduce Big Daddy Dink and this week’s Diamond Doll. Still not entirely sure why DDP is necessary to this act if he’s not going to actually be at ringside ever.
  • Tim Parker got to do a little BABYFACE FIRE off the hot tag but that ended in quick order. Poor Powerhouse, at least he isn’t jobbing on PPV to a Wizard of Oz character. Yet.

-VIDEO: Nikita Koloff works out in his spooky foggy dungeon.

“The Total Package” Lex Luger defeated “Jumpin” Joey Maggs via submission with the Torture Rack (2:22)

-PROMO: Lex Luger throws shade at Nikita Koloff as we see the WrestleWar ’91 attack for the 34324975439th time.

“The Z-Man” Tom Zenk vs. “The Computerized Wrestler of the 90s” Terrance Taylor [w/ Alexandra York & Mr. Hughes]

Taylor tries a hammerlock, Zenk quickly escapes with a back elbow to the mush. Zenk ducks a right hand from Taylor and takes him to the mat with an armdrag, Taylor bailing to the floor with his cronies to talk strategy. Zenk leap frogs Taylor and connects with a crossbody for a two-count, then settles into a wristlock. Taylor tries to force a rope break, Zenk pulls him back in and transitions into an armbar. They fight in the corner, ref goes between to force a break and Taylor takes advantage with a cheap shot to go on the offensive. Taylor drops a knee across the bridge of the nose and squashes Zenk with a clothesline in the corner for a two-count. Taylor goes for a backdrop, Zenk counters with an elbow and a powerslam for the 1…2…Taylor kicks out. Zenk belts Taylor with a superkick for the 1…2…Taylor kicks out again. Zenk and Taylor knock heads and fall to the floor. Taylor distracts the ref and Hughes sends Zenk into the post. Hughes rolls Zenk in and Taylor covers for the 1…2…Zenk gets his foot on the rope…3! Taylor quickly pushes Zenk’s foot off the bottom rope to hide the evidence. NOICE.

Terrance Taylor defeated Tom Zenk via pinfall (4:05)

  • And the feud continues with Taylor picking up a tainted win. Mr. Hughes is slowly starting to do more things and I’m for it. (**)

-BRICKHOUSE BONUS: Jack Brickhouse talks about the controversy surrounding the Flair/Fujinami match from Tokyo. Brickhouse predicts a rematch will happen. He is very correct.

Big Josh & “Wildfire” Tommy Rich defeated Lou Fabiano & Pat Rose when Josh pinned Fabiano with the seated splash (2:17)

  • Josh and Rich have their eyes on Tag Team gold according to an insert promo. Rich gives no damns about the Six Man Tag Team Championship he supposedly holds 1/3 of.

-LARRY Z’S LEGENDS: Zbyszko (trading in his Cubs gear for an Hawaiian shirt) introduces his guest Sid Vicious. Sid brags about almost breaking Brian Pillman’s neck at WrestleWar ’91, and threatens El Gigante if he gets in his business one more time.

Owen Hart defeated Keith Stark via pinfall with a twisting flying crossbody (2:40)

  • Keith Stark is Keith Hart, but they changed his name for obvious reasons. Props to WCW for making his new last name rhyme with his old one though, at least. That’s pretty funny.

-CLIP: Big Van Vader and Stan Hansen’s post-match brawl (WrestleWar ’91 – 2.24.91)

-PROMO: Stan Hansen brags about chasing Vader out of the country, and now wants to get his hands on all the primadonna babies in WCW like Zenk and Pillman.

“The Natural” Dustin Rhodes & The Young Pistols (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) defeated Paul Lee & Magnum Force (Rick & Speedy) when Rhodes pinned a Magnum Force dude with the Bulldog (2:38)

  • Paul Lee looked like he was doing a half-assed Nature Boy impression. Buddy Landell he ain’t.
  • The next UIC Pavilion house show in Chicago is going to feature The Steiner Bros vs. Stan Hansen & Sid Vicious for the Tag Team Titles. I’m so mad WCW didn’t tape everything like WWE did.
  • For a squash this one wasn’t half-bad, fast-paced offense from Rhodes & the Pistols that kept it entertaining enough.

-CLIP: Ron Simmons & Butch Reed brawl (Pro – 3.16.91)

-PROMO: Ron Simmons threatens the sh*t out of Butch Reed and Teddy Long.

Sting & El Gigante defeated Jim Boss & Jeff Sword when Gigante pinned Sword with the Claw (1:58)

  • INSERT PROMO: Sting is excited to fight Ric Flair in a cage, with El Gigante as the special guest referee. Schiavone keeps referencing a tag team match happening at the UIC Pavilion though, WHICH ONE AM I NOT GOING TO GET TO SEE?!?
