[TV Rundown] ‘Power Hour’ 4.27.91 – Steiners vs. Hase/Sasaki, old Pro Stuff

COMMENTATORS: Jim Ross & Paul E. Dangerously

Hey it’s the 4.20.91 episode of Pro, but this time on the SUPERSTATION. Also Dangerously calls SuperBrawl “Super Sunday” a bunch. That’s weird.

*****

The Young Pistols (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) defeated Dave Johnson & Lou Fabiano when Armstrong pinned Johnson following a doomsday dropkick (3:21)

-Ross and Dangerously hype Pistols/Freebirds for SuperBrawl ’91. Dangerously predicts The Freebirds will win because of course he does.

Ricky Morton, “Wildfire” Tommy Rich, & The Junkyard Dog defeated Rip Rogers, Don Allen, & Joe Cazana when JYD pinned Cazana with the Big Thump (3:22)

-Dangerously questions Ricky Morton’s intelligence in going against Dan Spivey next month at SuperBrawl. After a commercial break Ross hypes tonight’s episode of World Championship Wrestling which will features Brian Pillman vs. Barry Windham. Dangerously says it’s going to be a WAR.

Barry Windham defeated Scott Allen via pinfall with the superplex (1:16)

“The Total Package” Lex Luger defeated Pat Rose via submission with the Torture Rack (1:35)

  • Missy Hyatt will be interviewing Nikita Koloff tonight on World Championship Wrestling. He and Luger are feuding. Perhaps you’ve heard about it on a previous episode.

-WRESTLING NEWS NETWORK: Gordon Solie highlights Brian Pillman’s crusade against The Horsemen. Clip of Pillman vs. Flair from World Championship Wrestling two weeks ago, clip of Pillman vs. Anderson from Main Event the next night which ended in a time limit draw, clip of Pillman/Gigante vs. Anderson/Windham from last week’s Main Event. Solie announces tomorrow night’s Main Event will be two hours, with Sting/Pillman/Gigante vs. Flair/Windham/Anderson as the highlight match. The main match if you will.

-Ross and Dangerously hype Eaton/Anderson for the TV Title at SuperBrawl.

Arn Anderson [c] defeated Tim Horner via pinfall with the Spinebuster to retain the WCW WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP (4:53)

  • RATING: **3/4
  • Ross puts Horner over hard before and during the match. I agree. Tim Horner rules.

-JOINED IN PROGRESS: The Steiner Brothers vs. Hiroshi Hase & Kensuke Sasaki (Japan Supershow – 3.21.91)

  • Ross and Tony Schiavone are on commentary for this one.
  • The Steiner Brothers win, and are now IWGP Tag Team Champions. Real banger of a match, I recommend you watching it (or reading the Japan Supershow recap!)

-Back to Ross and Dangerously, the former of whom says tonight is when we find out who The Steiner Bros will face at SuperBrawl (which we already know and we’ve already seen promos of, and has been the subject of the Control Center…but hey who cares about editing), the latter teases that Pillman/Windham will be a bloodbath.
