[TV Rundown] ‘Power Hour’ 5.18.91 – Watch Last Week’s Pro With New Context

COMMENTATORS: Jim Ross & Paul E. Dangerously

SuperBrawl weekend begins with Power Hour, featuring all sorts of reused footage from last week’s Pro as well as…actually that’s it. STILL HYPED THOUGH.

  • WCW WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION: “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson
  • WCW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott Steiner)
  • WCW WORLD SIX MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: Ricky Morton, “Wildfire” Tommy Rich, & The Junkyard Dog

  • Sting & Lex Luger vs. Carl Robertson & Paul Lee (Pro – 5.11.91)
  • MUSIC VIDEO: Steiners/Sting & Lex Luger
  • CLIP: Windham, Anderson, & Sid Attack El Gigante (WCW – 5.4.91)
  • El Gigante vs. Jim Boss (Pro – 5.11.91)
  • Ron Simmons vs. Mike Steel (Pro – 5.11.91)
  • CLIP: Brian Pillman vs. Barry Windham (WCW – 4.27.91)
  • LARRY Z’S LEGENDS w/ Larry Zbyszko & Barry Windham (Pro – 5.11.91)
  • Bobby Eaton vs. Jeff Stone (Pro – 5.11.91)

“The Natural” Dustin Rhodes defeated Tom Burke via pinfall with the Bulldog (2:40)

  • POST-MATCH: Terrence Taylor attacks Rhodes, connecting with a Five Arm. Rhodes counters a piledriver and dropkicks Taylor out of the ring. Rhodes gets in the face of Hughes, who shields Alexandra York from harm.

-Ross and Dangerously hype tomorrow’s SuperBrawl PPV. Dangerously mocks Rhodes for not being able to operate a computer because it makes him the underdog in the Computer Match tomorrow. Ross rightfully rolls his eyes at the idea.

Sting & “The Total Package” Lex Luger defeated Carl Robertson & Paul Lee when Luger made Robertson submit to the Torture Rack (2:38)

  • Dangerously notes how “deadly serious” Sting & Lex Luger today because they’re focused for tomorrow night’s match at SuperBrawl. I appreciate the new commentary this Pro footage has every week, giving it new context.

-MUSIC VIDEO: A look at the teams of The Steiner Brothers and Sting & Lex Luger.

-Ross and Dangerously hype Steiners vs. Sting/Luger. Dangerously is excited for all four of these popular wrestlers to beat the crap out of each other.

-CLIP: Barry Windham, Arn Anderson, & Sid Vicious Attack El Gigante (WCW – 5.4.91)

El Gigante defeated Jim Boss via pinfall with the Claw (1:28)

  • Gigante tries to be nice, sitting Boss on the buckle and walking away, but Boss decides to sneak attack anyway and PAYS THE PRICE with very awkward offense by the big man.
  • Just in case you don’t know what “El Gigante” means, he has “The Giant” written on his trunks. Thanks, man.

-SUPERBRAWL CONTROL CENTER: Gordon Solie is here with the final edition of the Control Center, and he runs down the final announced card. Comments from Dustin Rhodes and The York Foundation to hype the COM-PEW-TOR MATCH.

Ron Simmons defeated Mike Steel via pinfall with a spinebuster (2:50)

  • Just as brutal as it was when I watched it for the Pro recap. GODDAMN.

-CLIP: Brian Pillman vs. Barry Windham (WCW – 4.27.91). Arn Anderson interferes, Bobby Eaton (Anderson’s SuperBrawl opponent) makes the save. Pillman and Windham do battle in a Taped Fist match tomorrow night.

-LARRY Z’S LEGENDS: Zbyszko is joined in the ring by Barry Windham. Windham plays with a roll of tape like a cat while Zbyszko asks him when he’s going to get rid of Brian Pillman. Windham vows to put Pillman out of wrestling at SuperBrawl, calling him a “yellow dog”. Windham starts putting the tape on his fist but out comes Brian Pillman who attacks him from behind. Windham immediately bails from the ring, Windham and Zbyszko both brush him off. (Pro – 5.11.91)

“Beautiful” Bobby Eaton defeated Jeff Stone via pinfall with the Alabama Jam (3:55)

  • Dangerously pulls out a crazy good Terry Funk impression for no reason. I love it.
  • POST-MATCH: Arn Anderson shows at ringside and grabs a mic. Anderson tells Eaton to be content at being a great tag team wrestler, Eaton responds by STARTING A BRAWL and they fight to the back.

-Ross teases a big surprise for Dangerously on WCW tonight from Missy Hyatt, as well as a BRAND NEW OUTFIT. Malibu Hyatt coming later!
