*****

-LAST WEEK: Steve Austin defeats Bobby Eaton for the World Television Title thanks to Lady Blossom.

-Schiavone and Solie welcome the home audience from ringside, wishing everyone a happy 4th of July weekend. Hype for this week’s show and talk about Austin’s surprising win last week.

“Stunning” Steve Austin [w/ Lady Blossom] defeated Ian Weston via pinfall with a standing lariat (2:02)

  • Blossom continues her heeling ways, raking at Weston’s eyes behind the ref’s back. Austin doesn’t even need her help for this one, it’s done because it can be.
  • Stun Gun is in play but isn’t treated as THE finisher here, instead it’s a driving lariat.

“The Rapmaster” PN News defeated Tommy Starr via pinfall with the Broken Record (1:53)

  • For once it’s POWER HOUR being recycled for the weekend shows. Weird.
  • INSERT PROMO: Johnny B. Badd and Theodore R. Long throw some shade at News.

THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH CONTROL CENTER

Paul E. Dangerously hypes up next Sunday’s PPV by announcing four new matches:

  • Dustin Rhodes & The Young Pistols vs. Badstreet & The Fabulous Freebirds in an Elimination Match…not for the Six Man Tag Team Title, I guess
  • Yellow Dog vs. Johnny B. Badd in a Bounty Match for Dog’s mask
  • Bobby Eaton & PN News vs. Steve Austin & Terrance Taylor in a Scaffold Match dubbed “SkyWalker 2”. YOU MOTHERF*CKERS ARE MAKING PN NEWS DO WHAT NOW?
  • Tom Zenk vs. The Diamond Studd

Clip of Studd’s attack on Zenk two weeks ago on World Championship Wrestling. Pre-recorded comments from both men; Studd will drop Z-Man like a bad habit, Z-Man will get revenge for having his clothes ripped off on national TV. Not quite a shampoo commercial-level for a feud but close. Dangerously then hypes the already-announced matches, including Flair vs. Luger which if you watched Pro earlier in the day know that it’s very much NOT happening. They spliced in the announcement during Pro but haven’t yet on Worldwide which is strange.

Big Josh defeated Tim Frye via pinfall with a seated splash (2:07)

  • INSERT PROMO: Josh likes his chances at the Lumberjack Match against Black Blood next week at the Great American Bash (supposedly) since he’s already a lumberjack.

-Schiavone is with “The Z-Man” Tom Zenk at ringside. Zenk thanks the fans for sending cards and letters, and he’s back at 100%. Right on.

The York Foundation (Richard Morton & “The Computerized Man of the 1990s” Terrence Taylor) [w/ Alexandra York & Mr. Hughes] defeated Johnny Rich & Tommy Angel when Morton pinned Angel following a driving knee from the top rope (3:54)

  • Schiavone and Solie hype Morton vs. Gibson at The Great American Bash. I’m excited too, to be honest. That should be good.
  • Rich actually gets the better of Taylor at the beginning, forcing the Computerized Man to seek counsel from the COM-PEW-TOR.

-Schiavone and Solie hype up Lex Luger leading to next week’s Great American Bash, and that he’s at the apex of his career heading into his match with Ric Flair (BROOOOOO).

-VIDEO: A look at “The Total Package” Lex Luger. He’s come close to being champ before but has always failed, will he fail again? Okay that wasn’t the framing of this one but that’s what it felt like.

“The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff defeated Johnny Meadows via pinfall with the Russian Sickle (2:02)

  • Koloff hits the Russian Sickle, pulls his straps down, and hits a second one for added insult before getting the pin. Playing some mind games with Sting, no doubt.
  • POST-MATCH: Koloff chokes Meadows with the Russian Chain, crowd chants for Luger instead of Sting so I guess this was taped back in May or something?

Barry Windham defeated Kerry Booth via pinfall with the Superplex (2:30)

  • INSERT PROMO: The Yellow Dog says Windham can put as many bounties on his mask as he wants but the real fight is between them.

The Hardliners (“Dirty” Dick Slater & Dick Murdoch) defeated Rob Morgan & Scotty Williams when Murdoch pinned Morgan following a brainbuster (3:52)

  • Schiavone announces that the Wrestling News Network is going to syndicate across ALL programs, which means that Solie will no longer be part of the Worldwide commentary team. Schiavone and Solie pay compliments to each other. Schiavone’s new co-host will be revealed on next week’s show. Aw man, that makes me sad.

-After a replay of the last match we go to Schiavone at ringside with The Yellow Dog. Schiavone talks about Barry Windham’s claims that he’s actually Brian Pillman. Dog says those accusations will not fly and talks about taking advantage of an unfortunate situation by taking over Pillman’s contractual obligations. Barry Windham attacks Dog from behind and tries to take the mask off, yelling he knows it’s Pillman, but Dog fights him off and Windham runs away. Dog pursues as the episode concludes.
