*****

-KNOCKSVILLE USA CLIP: Paul E. Dangerously breaks his cell phone over the back of Jason Hervey’s head, Missy Hyatt comes out to defend him.

-Schiavone welcomes the home audience at ringside. He introduces his new co-host: former U.S. Champion Magnum T.A.! Hell yeah.

-VIDEO: Jim Herd announces that Ric Flair has not re-signed with WCW, World Title vacant, Lex Luger will battle Barry Windham at The Great American Bash to decide a new champion.

The Diamond Studd [w/ Diamond Dallas Page] defeated Rick Ryder via pinfall with the Diamond Death Drop (3:00)

  • PRE-MATCH: DDP calls Studd “chiseled from stone and bad to the bone”, switching up the “twisted steel and sex appeal” line he’s used for what feels like centuries.
  • Ryder is on the smaller side so Studd messes around with him, hitting a Vader Bomb and that nasty Avalanche Samoan Drop that should just be a finisher on its own.

THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH CONTROL CENTER

Dangerously hypes Luger/Windham in a Cage Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. This affects the OTHER cage match, as now the six-person contest scheduled originally is a tag team affair as Rick Steiner teams with Missy Hyatt against Arn Anderson & Dangerously. Rest of the card is hyped as well, Richard Morton and Robert Gibson have some comments about their singles match against one another. Comments from Barry Windham who tells Lex Luger to be ready for the battle of his life because he will prove he is the next World Heavyweight Champion.

“The Rapmaster” PN News defeated John Peterson via pinfall with the Broken Record Rap Splash (2:23)

  • INSET PROMO: Johnny B. Badd calls PN News a big old ugly bear. Are they going to ever wrestle at all?
  • Magnum pops for the Belly-to-Belly suplex since that used to be his finishing move.
  • Schiavone calls the Broken Record the “Rap Splash” which makes MUCH MORE sense and is a lot better so I’ll try to remember to use that going forward.

Magnum T.A. is standing by with The Diamond Studd and Diamond Dallas Page. Cut to a clip of Studd attacking Tom Zenk, and the duo ripping The Z-Man’s suit off. DDP says he only wanted to give Zenk advice but he put his hands on him, so Studd stepped in. DDP tells Zenk to remember Studd is in the gym slammin’ and jammin’ in the gym for The Great American Bash. Magnum says this one is a long way from being over but we will see a conclusion at the Bash. HEH?

“Stunning” Steve Austin [w/ Lady Blossom] defeated Keno McKenzie via pinfall with a Stun Gun/faceslam combo (3:27)

  • Keno McKenzie is a GREAT name. He kind of looks like Bruce Hart but I don’t think it’s him.
  • McKenzie starts getting some offense in, Austin shuts it down emphatically with a powerslam.

-Schiavone & Magnum discuss the issues between El Gigante & One Man Gang, including a clip of Sullivan shaving Gigante’s head last month on TV.

El Gigante will make One Man Gang pay for the haircut.

Mr. Hughes [w/ “The Computerized Man of the 1990s” Terrence Taylor, Richard Morton, & Alexandra York] defeated Scott Allen via pinfall with a slide slam (3:26)

  • Lots of talk about Hughes’ “street fighting” skills. What about a dude in a suit screams street fi-oh right this is a southern wrestling company in the 90s my bad.
  • POST-MATCH: Robert Gibson confronts and brawls with Morton, Hughes pulls Gibson in but Dustin Rhodes makes the save and they hit Hughes with a double dropkick. Taylor and Morton get involved, 3-on-1 attack on Rhodes, Gibson brings in a (plastic) chair and scares the York Foundation off.

The Hardliners (“Dirty” Dick Slater & Dick Murdoch) defeated Sonny Trout & Chris Sullivan when Slater made Sullivan submit to a key lock (5:12)

  • Did we really need five minutes for The Hardliners to do their arm-based stuff? I don’t think so.

-GREEN SCREEN: The Patriots (Firebreaker Chip & Todd Champion) teach the kids not to play with matches.

-CLIPS: The Hardliners take Scott Steiner out at Knocksville U.S.A. then target Rick Steiner next on an episode of World Championship Wrestling.

-Main event for next week’s show announced: Yellow Dog teams with Bobby Eaton and Dustin Rhodes against Barry Windham, Arn Anderson, & Diamond Studd in a Bounty for the Mask. Maybe don’t put stock in Windham winning the World Title or Yellow Dog losing his mask later tonight at the Bash. Both teams have pre-recorded comments about the match.
